CEENTA is proud to announce that Lisa Collea, MD, and Brendan O’Connell, MD, joined our SouthPark office on January 5, 2021.

About Dr. Collea

Dr. Collea is an ophthalmologist who specializes in laser cataract surgery, anterior segment surgery, sutureless pterygium surgery, management of severe dry eye, and medical treatment of corneal disorders. Prior to joining CEENTA, Dr. Collea provided ophthalmic care to patients in Southern California for 10 years.

Dr. Collea earned her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University and her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College. Her internship and residency were also at Georgetown University/Washington National Eye Center, and her cornea fellowship was at Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan.

“I am proud to be part of such a distinguished group of physicians,” Dr. Collea said “I look forward to providing individualized, compassionate and leading-edge ophthalmic care to all my new patients.”

“Dr. Collea had an impressive record of patient care at her California practice,” CEENTA CEO Jag Gill, ScD, said. “We are delighted she chose to bring those skills to CEENTA when she decided to return to the east coast.”

About Dr. O'Connell

Dr. O'Connell is an ear, nose, and throat physician with fellowship training in neurotology and skull base surgery. He specializes in medical and surgical disorders of the ear, including chronic ear infections, cochlear implants, and acoustic neuromas. Prior to joining CEENTA, Dr. O'Connell was an assistant professor at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, where he was a Medical Director of the Children's Cochlear Implant Center.

Dr. O'Connell earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia. He earned his medical degree and served his residency at the Medical University of South Carolina. His neurotology and skull base surgery fellowship was with Vanderbilt Otology Group.

“I’m excited to join CEENTA and will strive to continue its longstanding tradition of excellence with respect to providing cutting-edge, expert care to patients with hearing-related needs in North Carolina,” Dr. O’Connell said.

“For years, Dr. O’Connell helped educate our country’s newest physicians,” Dr. Gill said. “CEENTA’s patients will benefit from both his years of practice and his firsthand experience disseminating the latest medical knowledge.”
