A thoughtful doctor

The coronavirus had an impact on everyone, our doctors included. Today, some of CEENTA’s physicians would like to share what the last few months have been like for them in their personal and professional lives.

Catherine Cuite, MD

Catherine Cuite, MD (SouthPark)

The virtual visit screen became a window through which my patients and I could share each other’s worlds, an experience for which I am very grateful. One patient’s custom cabinets revealed that she is married to a skilled carpenter, as am I. Another patient had a Scottish Terrier in the background, as did I. And almost every kitchen window, like mine, was adorned with one-of-a-kind trinkets from treasured family and friends.

Michael Falcone, MD

Michael Falcone, MD (University)

I have learned that my boys are really good at Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I have also been able to get caught up on recipes that I have been dying to make. My confidence in preparing fish has really improved.

Timothy Kelly, MD

Timothy Kelly, MD (Fort Mill)

Being away from our usual schedule of work/the practice of ENT for almost two months gave me a much greater appreciation of how much I receive from my patients. I am so fortunate to practice medicine and have such wonderful patients to care for.

Joshua Levine, MD

Joshua Levine, MD (Blakeney)

I have learned that my family will never be ready for me to retire!

Roy Lewis, MD

Roy Lewis, MD (Mooresville)

I've learned that masks are hot. I'm now wearing a mask all day every day in the office.

The value of a high five cannot be underestimated. With younger kids, I would typically give them high fives, fist bumps, and buzzy bees to facilitate the appointment. With the coronavirus, all of that is now gone. I think I may have to go back to high fives with the gloves on.

Noise is comforting. I didn't notice the background noise of the office until we were only here two half-days per week with minimal urgent patients only. Now that we are back to full staff and full schedule, the background noise of nurses talking with patients and answering calls is great!

Vipul Shah, MD

Vipul Shah, MD (Blakeney, Monroe)

I learned that as much as I love having more time with my family, I really love, and missed, helping and taking care of patients. Also, I learned that I am more of a hindrance than a help when it comes to distance learning!

I enjoyed reading "How the Pandemic Affected Us". The articles gave a human touch to the doctors that serve us.
