CEENTA Radiologic Technologist

Not sure why your ear, nose, or throat isn’t feeling right? Sometimes you have to look beyond the surface, and that involves imaging scans. It takes someone dedicated, knowledgeable, and caring to take on the role of scanning patients at a time when they may feel anxious or vulnerable about what’s next. Today, the career spotlight for CEENTA is: radiologic technologist.

What is a radiologic technologist?

A radiologic technologist is a specialist in x-rays and computed tomography (CT scans). They create images of the patient’s body based on the recommendations of the physician in order to get a more accurate idea of what could be wrong. To go into more detail about this position at CEENTA, two radiologic technologists took the time to give some insight: Tiffany Wheatley from our Matthews office and Tamara Johnson from our SouthPark location.

What are some of your responsibilities as a radiology technologist?

According to Tamara, who has been a radiology tech for twenty-two years, “We are responsible for providing diagnostic services, and we also work with insurance companies to get prior authorizations before the scans are conducted.” These scans can include a range from sinus CT scans to contrast enhanced CT imaging to highlight structures like blood vessels. Beyond the technology, they are attentive to their patients’ needs before, during, and after the exam.

For Tiffany, a 17-year veteran of the field who has been with CEENTA for six years, she sums up her role by saying, “We provide our patients with high quality imaging that aids in their treatment and diagnosis when they come in to see our providers.”

What are the highlights of being a CEENTA radiologic technologist?

Tamara and Tiffany are two of many incredible CEENTA radiologic technologists who make a difference in their patients’ lives. When asked about her favorite aspect of the job, Tamara remarked, “I love that I get to meet people from different walks of life and provide a service that is used to assist the physician in diagnosing and creating a plan of care.” Tiffany shared similar sentiments, saying, “I enjoy getting to know my patients and provide them with the care and imaging that they need to help them find a diagnosis of the problems they are dealing with, whether it is a patient with chronic sinusitis or a patient dealing with a new cancer diagnosis.”
