CEENTA Welcomes Marilyn Collins, MD, and Lea Heuer, OD

CEENTA is pleased to announce the addition of cornea specialist Marilyn "MariMac" Collins, MD, and optometrist Lea Heuer, OD, effective October 6, 2026.

Dr. Collins specializes in corneal diseases, corneal transplants, and refractive eye surgery. In addition, she provides traditional and laser-assisted cataract surgery, consultations on premium lenses, and routine eye exams.

After graduating from Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) with a degree in systems science and engineering, Dr. Collins earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Medicine. She became chief resident at the University of Texas Southwestern before returning to WashU to complete her fellowship in cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery.

Dr. Collins will be seeing patients at our Pineville office.

“I chose CEENTA to become a part of this large, supportive team environment,” says Dr. Collins. “I'm looking forward to meeting the community around Charlotte and adding to the practice.”

As an optometrist, Dr. Heuer's clinical interests include adult and pediatric eye exams, routine eye care, dry eye treatment, and corrections for astigmatism and vision loss.

Dr. Heuer received her undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Washington and Lee University and her doctorate in optometry from the Southern College of Optometry, earning the Optometric Retina Society Award and the Dr. Robert and Evelyn Henry Outstanding Clinician Award during her tenure. She later completed her residency at the W.G. Hefner Salisbury Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Dr. Heuer will be seeing patients at our SouthPark location.
