I have been through so much with being profoundly deaf, wearing hearing aids for ten years when the hearing aids started failing in May of 2021. I no longer had any hearing in my right ear. It was scary to suddenly be deaf.
I am so happy I was referred to CEENTA in SouthPark by Dr. Gregory Parsons, my ENT provider in Rock Hill. My husband and I met Dr. Brendan O'Connell in July 2021 and he really took the time to explain the process of cochlear implantation and answer all our questions. I was immediately at ease with him as my surgeon. He was kind and compassionate and here to help. He explained all of the risks and what I needed for pre op and post op.
After MRI, testing, I received my cochlear implant in my right ear in October of 2021. I would never be able to trust anyone else to do what he did.
Dr. Kyndal Gray has been with me through every step of the way between choosing equipment, testing, retesting, and making sure I knew how to use my new ear. She was always kind and ready to assist and listen to my needs. She really made sure that I was successful. It was so successful with the right ear getting close to 80% of hearing out of a non-working ear.
I met with Dr. O'Connell again and we scheduled the left side a year after my first procedure. He was happy with my progress for the right ear. We went over our plan again and risks. I had another successful implant on the left and once again he took the best care of me. Dr. Gray was also there to help me every step of the way.
