Dr. Rena Xu is a fellowship-trained cornea specialist providing eye care in Charlotte, Concord, and Huntersville, NC. Her expertise includes cornea and external disease, cataract surgery, refractive procedures, corneal transplants, intraocular lens exchange, and artificial iris implantation.
Dr. Xu received her medical degree from Nanjing Medical University. She went on to complete a PhD in optics at Indiana University, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She currently holds the national record for the most primary phaco cases during a residency at 490 cataract surgeries, half of which are premium lenses. She then completed her fellowship in cornea, external disease, and refractive surgery at Wills Eye Hospital. With a PhD background in optics and multifocal intraocular lens design, she has a special interest in premium lens selection to optimize both distance and near vision for her patients.
Outside of the office, Dr. Xu enjoys traveling, cooking, biking with her husband and two children, and spending time with her mini Goldendoodle, Bella.
