Dr. Nicholas Abt is an otolaryngologist who specializes in head and neck cancer and skull base surgery in Charlotte, NC. His clinical interests include cancers of the skin, parotid, upper aerodigestive tract including mouth, oropharynx, pharynx, and larynx, sinus, base of the skull, neck, thyroid, and parathyroid. In addition, Dr. Abt performs reconstructive surgery following cancer removal to restore form and function. He also performs minimally invasive robotic surgery of the oropharynx, pharynx, and larynx through the mouth. Finally, he employs minimally invasive endoscopic techniques to remove tumors of the sinuses and skull base.
After receiving his undergraduate degree in microbiology and cell science from the University of Florida as valedictorian, Dr. Abt earned his medical degree from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He was inducted to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He later completed his residency at Harvard Medical School and his fellowship in head & neck surgical oncology, skull base surgery, and microvascular reconstructive surgery at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine. In addition, he has experience as a clinical instructor in otolaryngology at the University of Miami School of Medicine.
Outside of the office, Dr. Abt enjoys golfing, fishing, hiking, and spending time with his family and dog. He also enjoys spontaneous trips exploring new scenery.
