Biography

Jake Hemminger, MM, MS, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist in Charlotte, NC and Huntersville, NC with specialized training in voice, swallowing, and upper airway disorders.

After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Music Technology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, Mr. Hemminger completed his Master of Music in vocal performance & pedagogy at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and later a Master of Science in speech, language, & learning at Northwestern University. He is certified by the State of North Carolina and the American Speech-Language –Hearing Association.

Mr. Hemminger has experience with both adult and pediatric patients at the K-12 level during his tenure across multiple locations, including Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Lumiere Children’s Therapy in Chicago, IL, and the Mary Frances Wall Center in Concord, NC. He has also presented research and creative projects at a variety of conferences on topics such as vocal health for teachers, clinical techniques in voice therapy, and using music to enhance language development.

As a vocalist, Mr. Hemminger has performed in a variety of venues across the United States and internationally, including engagements at Carnegie Hall and in Germany, Italy, and Latvia. In addition, he has performed operatic and musical theatre roles ranging from Mozart to Sondheim and art song literature from Schubert to Britten.
Mr. Hemminger is an avid disc golfer who competes at the amateur level and has a large social media following on Instagram and TikTok. He also organizes outreach clinics to teach disc golf basics to youth. Mr. Hemminger also enjoys other musical ventures such as performing as a singer-songwriter as well as other outdoor and sporting activities such as hiking, ultimate, and tennis.
