CEENTA patient Alan Cauble

CEENTA has cared for countless patients in its 95 years, with thousands of employees working here and even more patients visiting us over the years. This is the latest in a series of interviews with some of these people, offering brief glimpses into our storied history.

When you’ve cared for patients for 95 years, like CEENTA has, there’s a good chance that patients will keep coming back throughout their lives. No matter how much time passes between visits, the premier care we provide makes patients want to return. Just ask Alan Cauble.

Care as a child

Born in 1958, Mr. Cauble started seeing ENT doctor Hoke Nash, Jr., MD, around 1963 or 1964 for ear and throat infections. To treat them, Dr. Nash put in ear tubes and removed Mr. Cauble’s tonsils.

While Mr. Cauble was “scared to death” of dentists and hated doctors when he was a child, he wasn’t scared of Dr. Nash.

“Even though I was a child, I do not remember ever being scared,” Mr. Cauble said. “The one thing that Dr. Nash was very careful about was to not hurt you. I can remember feeling/knowing that even now.”

Mr. Cauble joked that since Dr. Nash never gave him shots, the doctor was probably redeemed in his young eyes.

This was at a time when children saw the same doctors as their parents, so it was great to find a doctor who knew how to care for children.

Mr. Cauble was a patient of Dr. Nash’s until he was about 9 years old. When he moved from Gaston County to Kannapolis, he stopped coming to CEENTA until the Concord office opened.

Care as an adult

While he doesn’t need regular ENT care now, he does get eye care here.Mr. Cauble would certainly recommend other patients come here, not just because he saw us as a child, but because of the great doctors here now.

We hope you, like Mr. Cauble, can find the care you need at CEENTA no matter how old you are.
