What to Expect during a Swallowing Evaluation

A voice specialist may observe and digitally record the patient eating and drinking foods of different consistencies, thus identifying potential problems and establishing a therapeutic plan. Two procedures that may be used: Videofluoroscopy Swallow Study (VFSS) and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Examination of Swallowing (FEES).
