Undergraduate: Augustana College, 1983
Medical School: University of Minnesota School of Medicine, 1987.
Internship: General surgery, St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Residency: University of Iowa Otolaryngology - Head and Neck surgery program. During his residency training, Dr. Blumer received extensive training in pediatric otolaryngology and airway reconstruction. He learned and helped develop state-of-the-art techniques for reconstructing the airway in children and has presented and published his work in major journals.

BOARD CERTIFICATION:
American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery Dr. Blumer has practiced pediatric and adult Otolaryngology in Charlotte since 1992 and he joined Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates in January 1998.

MEMBERSHIPS:
American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the Mecklenburg County Medical Society.

MEDICAL STAFF:
Levine Children’s Hospital, Carolinas Medical Center and Presbyterian Hospital.

EXPERTISE:
Pediatric and adult airway disorders. Sinus, sleep, and voice disorders. Head, neck and thyroid surgery. Additionally, Dr. Blumer has acquired extensive experience with Vagus Nerve Stimulator implantation in patients with seizures and depression.
