Pediatric Allergy Care

There are many providers at Charlotte Eye Ear Nose & Throat Associates that specialize in both allergies and pediatric care. While children often display the same symptoms and require the same allergy treatment as adults, we know that they often require special care.

Our providers and allergists will help your child relax during the examination and allergy testing process, which may require blood or skin sample testing. After this allergy testing is completed and the lab results are returned, our allergists can then recommend treatment options for your child. Pediatric allergy treatments may include avoidance of allergens (especially with food allergies) as well as immunotherapy in the form of allergy shots or sublingual drops that are placed under the tongue.

Often, children are misdiagnosed with colds or sinus infections when in reality they have allergies. Allergies in children, when left untreated, can contribute to ear infections and other pediatric health problems.

Food allergies are common among children of all ages, and they are becoming even more prevalent. We can provide allergy testing to confirm whether or not your child has a food allergy. After identifying what your child is allergic to, you can then make plans to eliminate this allergen from your child’s diet.
