There are many different types of allergies out there, and yet allergy symptoms are often similar no matter what you’re allergic to. It doesn’t matter if it’s pollens or peanuts, mold or milk — you need to know what your allergy symptoms are so you can receive allergy treatment if necessary.
Mild allergy symptoms can include:
- Itchy, watery eyes
Moderate allergy symptoms can include:
- Difficulty breathing
Serious allergy symptoms, often resulting from anaphylaxis, include:
- Itchiness of the eyes or face
- Swelling of the lips, tongue or throat
- Wheezing or difficulty breathing
- Abdominal pain
- Mental confusion, anxiety or loss of consciousness
If you or your child are prone to anaphylaxis, you should have a plan in place in case a severe allergic reaction occurs. The primary treatment for anaphylaxis is epinephrine (adrenaline).
